Tomie Kay Morse isn’t your ordinary boss; she is not only an owner and operator of Morse Home Improvement Roofing & Siding, but she also oversees the administrative duties, payroll, HR, accounts receivable, employee insurance, 401K, taking care of the fleet of vehicles insurance, maintenance the marketing and advertising for the company.
Tomie Kay overcame adversity to get where she is today. Marrying right after high school, having two children, and then getting divorced didn’t stop Tomie Kay. She found work that fit her children's schedule, and she began working at a local assisted living facility, using her compassion and talent to help others. She suffered an accident after getting married again in 2008 that left her with a broken tailbone and a spinal injury requiring surgery. After her recovery, she obtained the State Farm Property Adjuster and Rope and Harness Certification, to which she is licensed in fifty states. She went on to work for State Farm as a Rope and Harness Adjuster, who was deployed during catastrophic events across the United States.
With all the experience she gained, she was promoted to management as a State Farm Trainer. After being apart, she and her husband, Tom, decided they needed to find a career path keeping them home, so Morse Home Improvement (MHI) was born. In 2017, they focused on the business full-time. Tomie is a CertainTeed Master Craftsman Shingle Applicator, a CertainTeed Wizard, and a Certified TAMKO Mastercraft Pro Contractor, as well as having completed the VSI Certification. Giving back to the community is very important to Tomie and Tom, who is a Veteran. MHI has replaced several roofs for Veterans free of charge, as part of its mission to honor those who fought for our freedom.
Local organizations can count on support from MHI. Whether it's the local Easter egg hunt, Dagsboro's Night Out event, supporting the police department with a check for the new K-9 officer, or popping popcorn to help the local Camp Barns with the Delaware State Police, Tomie is always front and center giving back. Her devotion to community resonates with all who know her. She has helped lead Morse Home Improvement to attain several awards, including TAMKO's Mastercraft Pro Certification, CertainTeed Select Shingle Master, Beacon's Lighthouse Award, and five years named Delaware's Best of Coastal Style for Roofing winner as well as Best of for Siding winner. It is hard to find a harder-working, more compassionate, giving individual who encompasses the true meaning of a great, beloved businesswoman!
