To be honest, winning this contest is not the most important part of this campaign - being an inspiration to other women, and young ladies would be an honor and privilege. As I navigate through the construction world, operating with integrity and empathy is my primary focus in addition to helping homeowners with insurance claims.

I grew up in a very rough part of Houston with little money, without my parents and, sadly, suffered in more ways than one. After growing up in a toxic environment and enduring years of struggle, I finally found myself in Iowa helping homeowners trying to rebuild after a derecho, a widespread, long-lived, straight-line windstorm. For a year, I learned the ins and outs of roofing with the type of on-the-job training people dream of. Operating solely on drive and determination, I learned so much of what to do but more importantly, what not to do! Now in Houston, I started a company with a partner and our main focus is helping homeowners who are struggling with denied insurance claims. Nothing brings me more satisfaction than interjecting a sense of genuine care into people’s lives while also for myself, becoming established and independent.

I want to be a role model for young woman and show them they can achieve anything with hard work and determination. It is important for the youth of this country to see a person persevere and break out of the socioeconomic status that was holding them back. We forget that this country is the land of opportunity and with hard work - anyone can achieve their wildest dreams. I never thought that I would be successfully completing commercial construction projects and sometimes it still feels like a dream. As a Latina woman, I must work even harder to ensure that I’m not just knowledgeable on the construction industry, but I try to be the smartest person in the room. In less than a year working in Houston, I have single-handedly become a commercially and residentially authorized installer of all the major shingle manufacturers, learned Xactimate and am working on my Level 3 certification, have a pending enrollment in HARCA, and am trying to start a foundation to help at-risk youth. Winning this contest and the money isn’t what’s important - what’s important is being an inspiration to other women and a pillar of strength in my community. Thank you considering me as you place your vote.
