TRACY S.
ABOUT THE FINALISTTracy S.
Mobile, AL
United States Army & Marines
Tracy is a retired Staff Sergeant who enlisted in the Army and Marines and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. She was a war correspondent and has been under fire several times. Now, she is 60 years old and completely disabled with mobility issues, a total brain injury, facial nerve damage and suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Despite her disability, she has a positive attitude and great drive. Not only does she take care of her mentally handicapped brother, but Tracy is a strong pillar to an impoverished community by helping her local church serve food to the needy. She always has encouraging words to lift people’s spirits. However, Tracy needs help of her own and would graciously welcome the help from the Beacon of Hope. In the winter, she and her brother had to wear five layers of clothes to stay warm is the unbearable weather in southern Alabama. Her home desperately needs a roof replacement. She carries a lot on her shoulders and the fighting has not stopped on the home level – please consider Tracy and help provide her with a warm, safe home.
